Harry is a typical 5 year old with a healthy imagination who seeks to
resolve his conflicts and frustrations through the use of fantasy. Like most
5 year old children, Harry is beginning to learn to explore alternatives and
solutions to his different daily dilemmas. He lives with his mother, his Nana
and his older sister. His best friend is a young girl, Sam(antha) who is
a neighbor. His best friends are his toy dinosaurs whom he keeps in a
bucket. Only he and his Nana know that they are “real” – i.e.
that they come to life, can speak, and have another whole world that is gotten
to through the buckets.
This special world, Dino World, becomes a haven for Harry and his dinosaurs
when the real one presents him with a situation that is too much for him to handle.
In Dino World, Harry and his dinos (and even, occasionally his friend Sam and
his Nana) creatively and fancifully find solutions to the initial problem.
The storylines are representative of real life situations and concerns that
children experience daily. The use of humor by the dinosaurs and by the adult
characters help model open-mindedness and resilience in each episode. Resolutions
are clear and offer positive and optimistic take-away lessons. Most importantly
the examples of how to diffuse one’s anger at others as well as oneself
through humor is one of the major components for this series.
This series offers the target audience an opportunity to see their problems
within a safe secure environment that allows the main character to achieve resolution
to their problems in fun and creative locations and interacting with all kinds
of fantasy characters to help drive the life lessons home.
Every episode in this series qualifies for the FCC E/I program designation
for children from 2 – 5 years old. |
